Christmas Card

For this card, I used the Cottage Cutz Nativity 4x4 die. Very simple, but what a  powerful message. After cutting one nativity scene in brown, I cut a second in yellow using only the star which I glued over the brown star. The background paper is perfect as the top shows sun rays streaming down through clouds then the blues slowly blend into yellows and then greens. The sentiment is computer generated.
Merry Christmas to you and blessing for the New Year.

Mojo Monday Challenge

I have followed Mojo Monday Challenge blog for some months and finally decided to play. Using left over paper from a previous project worked perfectly for this card.  This is my granddaughter's 3rd grade school picture.  Can't you tell I am very proud of her!!

Cottage Cutz Blog Challenge

This is my entry in the Cottage Cutz Blog Challenge. We were shown a Tic Tac Toe grid to choose three in a row for our project.  I selected  "die, ribbon and bling". Using the 4x4 Christmas Fawn die works well for the theme of my card, then I added  a ribbon bow and  "bling" is  the colored  Gradient Jewels and crystal Stickles on the floral patterns of the  background paper.  I cut the computer generated sentiment out using a Martha Stewart punch which I then mounted on a brown square with the corners rounded.

Weekend Retreat Projects

Last weekend my daughter and I attended the Sunshine Scrapbook Retreat held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Sandcastle Hotel in Virginia Beach and got lots of projects done. This photo is of  my granddaughter  and we are most proud of her accomplishments as a first time member of the Colony Cuda swim team.
These two pages were taken several years ago on the day she learned to ride without training wheels. I  love the one of Granddaddy letting go!!

Until today, most of my postings have been of cards. I love creating cards but I also love to scrapbook and  try my hand at any crafty idea that comes along. Below is an idea I saw at a craft show last month.  I covered a small Pringle can with scrap holiday paper and the lid cover cut with a 3" scalloped  punch. The Poinsettia is made from paper using the Paper Blossom punches.  While the flowers are a bit time consuming to make, I hope you will agree it is well worth the effort.  The sentiment tag is computer generated.

I am making 20 of these to fill with candy and give to the ladies in my social club at our Christmas party.
The larger size Pringle can decorated this way would be ideal to fill with homemade cookies or fudge for a hostess or teacher gift.

This month the Scrapping Cottage Blog challenge asked us to use a frame. I selected the Boxwood Vine Wreath (4x8) die and used the basic wreath as my frame. I cut the circle picture from a piece of sheet music which I glued to the back of the wreath and added sparkle with a gold  jelly roll pen on the rays from the star. The sheet music is glued to black cardstock and the song title is computer generated. I used pop dots to attach the
frame and song title.

Halloween Treats

I over estimated my purchase of halloween M & M's for the test tube treat holders so had to come up with a way to use them. The paper sleeve  measures 8 1/2" long by 2 3/4" wide then scored at 3 3/4" and 4 3/4". The mini ziplock bags can be found at most craft stores. The pumpkin cut out was made with the Martha Stewart punch that can be positioned anywhere on the paper. Also used Martha Stewart punch to do the Boo border across the top and added a strip of black paper behind so the words would stand out. The spider and cat are also MS punches. I think these will be a hit with my daughter-in-laws Kindergarten class on Monday.

Test Tube Treats

Here is my version of the test tube treat holder as seen on Splitcoaststampers.com web site. I had a little trouble locating the Martha Stewart  test tubes as so many places had sold out. Just when I have given up on locating them I found them at Joann's Fabric half off!!.  The directions were very easy to follow and were a great hit with the ladies in my social club when we met last Sunday afternoon for our monthly get together.  I filled the tubes with black and orange M & M's.

Scrapping Cottage Blog Challenge

I am so excited that my Halloween card entered in the Scrapping Cottage Blog Challenge has been selected as the winner. I have won a $25.00 gift certificate and plan to spend it as soon as the second round of Christmas dies are available. If you haven't visited their web site, I encourage you to do so for they have amazing dies and a great team of designers to show you how they can be used.

Boss's Day Card

The Winter Bird 4x6 die from Cottage Cutz works well for any season bird. According to Hallmark, October 16th is Boss's Day but since that falls on a Sunday, I will present the card  to my  boss on Friday. I cut several birds and wings, glued them together so they would be thicker ( a technique I learned from The Scrapping Cottage design team member, Barry) then chalked the edges with a darker blue which made the bird really "pop" against the plaid paper.   Instead of using the ornament that came in this die, I used an orange 1 3/4" circle and a white  1 1/4" circle with computer generated sentiment.  I added the bow in the same color as the orange circle. Hope you will enjoy my card and thanks for stopping by.

This is the motion card I designed to enter in The Scrapping Cottage blog challenge using the Haunted House Border 4x6 die.  When you rotate the wheel tab at the bottom of the card, the moom will rise and set behind the house. In order to get this to happen, I had to design a donut style wheel, covered the center hole with acetate then  adhered the moon and bat on. The bats are  from an EK Success punch I purchased last year.
The moon is a simple circle in yellow then inked with a darker yellow for contrast and highlighted with gold glitter.

Baby Card

My son coaches a soccer team and when he learned one of the player's mom is expecting, he ask me to design a card for her . My inspiration came  from a card  done by Donna Mundinger (Popsicletoes). I used the following Cricut cartridges; My Community for the tree and grass and New Arrival for the baby in a sling and word "baby".

Just Ducky Card

I have a friend you would always reply,"Just Ducky",  when one would ask her how she was so as soon as I saw this die, I knew I would have to make this card for her. I used the Cottage Cutz 4x4 Duck w/Egg, that includes 4 clear Peachy Keen face stamps,  4x6 Duck Accessories and the 7" Grass Border. The paper is Driftwood by Cloud 9 Design that I had gotten for a gift several years ago. The weathered wood look reminds me of an old barn.

My first posted project

This is a card I created to enter in a contest but was having a problem with my blog so missed the deadline.
I used Scrapping Cottage dies for the jean pocket and items in the top of the pocket. I hope you will be able to see the details in this picture.
